About Therapy

Why Therapy?

People choose therapy for a wide range of reasons, it could be due to feelings of hopelessness, being overwhelmed by choices, or perhaps you've been engaging in behaviours you’d like to stop. Alternatively, you might have experienced a significant life event such as loss, a breakup, or becoming a parent. Your reasons for seeking help may feel less obvious; a desire to understand yourself better, a feeling of discontent, or a want to explore meaningful aspects of your past.

Regardless of the specifics, I believe therapy can provide valuable support. Exploring your thoughts and experiences with someone else, in a supported, non-judgemental environment, allows you to take stock of your feelings and begin to build a deeper connection to yourself and others.

For some, seeking support is a daunting experience, for others a relief - either way, I hope to simply outline how therapy can help, how we might work together and the practicalities of getting started.

How I Work

I offer you curiosity, care and commitment in exploring any areas of your life, or parts of yourself, that you wish to bring to therapy, no matter how overwhelming they may feel. I view therapy as a collaborative and creative process, where I will work alongside you to examine your life, thoughts, and choices more closely. You have the freedom to select the subjects you wish to explore and I will be invested in helping you understand the elements of your life causing distress and enact the changes you wish to see.

I work in a relational way, part of this includes exploring the relationship between us and how this may help you understand the other relationships in your life. I also see great value in exploring your relationship to the social and cultural context in which you live and how this might be impacting your wellbeing or influencing your choices.

You can find a little more information about me, my history and my qualifications and experience here.

What first?

Drop me a message to arrange an initial meeting

This gives you an opportunity to explore what it is you need, your expectations of therapy and if I offer the right way of working for you. I will also go through my policies on confidentiality, fee payments and cancellations.

The relationship between us is an important part of the therapy process and this initial session gives us a chance to see if we could work well together. There is no obligation, just an opportunity to talk, get a sense of each other and chat about possible next steps. If you don’t feel I am the right therapist for you, I may be able to point you in the direction of other support.
